Day 1 of Panguni fest begins with Grama Devathai Pooja

The panguni festival at Sri Kapali Temple, Mylapore began with the grama devathai pooja at Sri Kolavizhi Amman Temple, Mylapore. The items needed for an abhishekam including, manjal, kumkum, paneer, honey and garlands were brought from Sri Kapali Temple. 

After an abhishekam to the three statues inside the sanctum sanctorum, one statue (utsava murthy) is brought outside for the naivedyam. 

At 11 a.m. today morning, sweet pongal (as seen in the picture on the top) was being prepared at the Amman Temple. The pongal prepared will be offered as a naivedyam to the deity after which it will be distributed to the devotees at Sri Kapali Temple.
