The shops along the Mada streets have been lit up; stalls selling sundry items such as kolam achu, plastic toys and much more have sprung up along the pavements. There is a festive air everywhere.
There seems to more life to the vegetable market, shoppers are strolling along taking in the night life. Kapali temple is a beehive of activity and the gopurams have been decked with strings of lights.
